Anthony Joyner,
Jr.
May 10, 2021
Anthony was born in Philadelphia, PA, on June 9, 1962. He was the third child, and first son, to the late Lillian and Anthony Joyner, Sr. Anthony was educated in the Philadelphia school system where he graduated in 1978 from West Philadelphia High. He loved playing basketball at Myers playground where he earned many medals. He also was an avid sports, fan loving mostly the Philadelphia Eagles. He always would go around shouting "Fly, Eagles, Fly", but basketball was where his heart was first.
He loved having a good time and also making his coin. He was an amazing provider and often held multiple jobs. His main two were being a cook at the VA and serving his country. He first served as a member of the US Army in 1985. After he finished his tour of service he began cooking at Jeffrey Hospital, where he met Michelle Thompson. They later on became one with their two daughters, Lashonda and Orinthia.
He then returned to the Army in 1999 and relocated to Virginia before retiring in 2006. He later on met the last love of his life, Rosa Quintana, and re-married in 2014. He was still a loving family man. Anthony would help anyone without hesitation. He planned on living a retired life traveling, loving sports, politics and mostly visiting family and friends. He loved everyone.
Beloved husband of Rosa Quintana. Devoted father of Lashonda, Orinthia, Arcangela and Joel. Cherished grandfather of Janiah, Genesis, Mikael, Alycia, Azarie, Ayanna and Aniya. Dear brother of Kimberly and Cindy Joyner and the late Paul Joyner. Loving uncle of Krystle Tiller and Anthony Van Cliff and Terrance Oates. Caring godfather of Joseph Watson. Anthony is preceded in death by his parents, Lillian and Anthony, Sr.
