Zofia
Gray
October 16, 2023
Zofia (Brzozowska) Gray, of Clifton, passed away on October 16, 2023, at the age of 74 after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
She was born and raised on a farm in Flesze, Poland and immigrated to the US when she was 22 years old. She was a Quality Controller for GlaxoSmithKline for 41 years before retiring. It was here that she met a group of wonderful ladies and developed friendships that spanned more than 5 decades.
Zofia was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Babcia. She loved spending time in the kitchen not only cooking but dancing around with her children and granddaughter. She kept an immaculate house and was highly skilled with a needle and thread. Her hands were rarely idle. When she did finally relax, you could find her watching the Hallmark Channel. She loved the sappy storylines and would always cry when recapping the movies.
Zofia was a very elegant woman who loved getting dressed up and going to dinner parties. She also loved going to dances with her second husband, Jan. New Year's Eve was always a special night for them. When the high heels came off, she was in sneakers running around the park with her granddaughter, Lily. She loved every minute she spent with Lily. They had a very special bond.
Zofia met her first husband, Raymond, on a blind date. They were married for 19 years until his passing. Together they had two daughters, Diane and Christine.
Zofia is survived by her husband, Jan Pawlowicz, daughter Diane Gray and her fiancée, Kevin Malavarca of Morris Plains, and Christine Logue and her husband James of Woodland Park and granddaughter, Lily.
She was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her.
