In loving memory, Yolanda Shafee-Gomila passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, with the love of her family by her side.

Yolanda came into this world in Santurce, Puerto Rico in 1942 to Diego Gomila and Richarda Mely. She made her way to New York City in 1947 with her parents and sisters Louisa (deceased) and Miriam (deceased).  Her brother Diego was later born in 1950 in New York City.

Yolanda was a devoted mother to Terry Ann, Mark (deceased), Christine and Reyhana. She was a loving grandmother to Bianca, Kimberly, Little John, Gabriella and Layla.  Great grandmother to Aniyah, Ava and Ali. Mother-in-law to Madeline, John and Martin.

Yolanda was blessed to meet the love of her life, Saheid Shafee, in 1986. For 36 years, their love story blossomed into a journey of shared joy and unwavering devotion. Their meeting was destined, and their bond of love and companionship was the source of deep fulfillment and mutual respect until her last breath.

Yolanda loved shopping on the weekend, traveling with her husband, especially traveling to Puerto Rico to visit her brother Deigo and wife Sonia. She loved the Theater and music. She spent quality time with her children and grandchildren. Her favorite holiday was Christmas. She loved to cook and host holiday dinners with family and friends.

Yolanda's legacy of love, kindness, and family bonds will forever be treasured by her extended family and friends. A Celebration of Yolanda Life will be held on Saturday July 27, 2024 2-6 PM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave, Clifton NJ 07013.

Yolanda is preceded by her father; Deigo Gomila, mother; Ricarda (Mely) Gomila, sisters; Lousia Ruiz, and Miriam Pacheco, son; Mark L. Andino, niece; Deborah Ruiz.
