Obituary

William Marcy passed away at home on Aug. 9, 2020 at the age of 90.

He was born in North Bergen, N.J. to Paul and Martha Marcy(nee Blohm) and lived most of his life in Wayne and Pompton Plains, N.J.  He attended Pompton Lakes High School and Paterson State College(now William Paterson U.) followed by two years in the U.S. Army.

In 1955 he married his wife of 44 years, Sally Marcy(nee Kieselat).  William was a business ed teacher and a construction worker during the early years of his marriage before becoming an owner of William Rudolph, Inc., a used car dealership in Little Ferry, N.J  This was a joint venture with his business partner Rudolph Kieselat which lasted from 1964-2006.

William is survived by his son, Bill Marcy (wife Lucille) and daughter, Yvonne Nieves (husband Tito).  He has an extended family of foster and adopted children which includes Barbara Walz(nee Krzykalski), Gloria Anger (nee Hempstead), Greg Hempstead, Linh, Quyen, Mai and Kahn Nguyen, and Timothy Z. Marcy.  Additionally, he is survived by two granddaughters, Juliette Nieves-Becker and Jennifer Nieves and too many nieces and nephews to name here. Finally, he is survived by his sister, Linda Marcy and brother, Leonard Marcy.

William and his wife Sally were active in Habitat for Humanity, Heal the Children and Wayne Toastmasters.  After Sally's death in 1999, William traveled and was involved in Parents Without Partners.  He was an avid sailor and spent many days boating with his brother, Len Marcy, to interesting destinations.

William was a hard-working, honest man who was a great role model.  He loved life and people and we will miss him dearly.  Due to the pandemic, there will be no Visitation.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Meals on Wheels, the ACLU or simply supporting the free press by subscribing to a newspaper of your choice.
