William Demeter's Obituary
William Demeter, 86, of Clifton passed away on February 9, 2016. Born in Garfield, he lived in Elmwood Park and has been a resident of Clifton most of his life.
A US Navy Veteran during the Korean War, Bill was stationed on the USS Wasp, and was a member of the American Legion Post, Elmwood Park and AARP. A parishioner of St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Cathedral, Passaic, Bill worked for Spectra Energy Corp. in Jersey City for many years. Bill was a funeral home assistant for several years for many area funeral homes, including the Shook Funeral Home in Clifton.
Bill is survived by nieces, nephews, his companion Helen Stephensko, a daughter and son.
Funeral Saturday 11 AM at St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Cathedral, Passaic. Visiting Saturday 8:30-10:30 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. Interment, Ss. Peter and Paul RO Cemetery, Saddle Brook.
