Obituary

Wanda (Jarosz) Kornacki, 98, of Hawthorne, died peacefully at home on March 4, 2014. Born in Garfield, she moved to Nisko, Poland when she was 7 and lived there for 13 years, returning to the US in 1935. Wanda lived in Garfield, Passaic and Clifton and has been a resident of Hawthorne since 1976. A parishioner of St. Joseph's RC Church, Passaic, Wanda, a homemaker, spent much of her time knitting afghans for friends, family and charitable causes. Beloved wife of the late Leon who passed away in 2004. Devoted mother of Christine Pogoda of Clifton and her late husband Stanley, and Barbara Meisner and her husband William J. of Woodcliff Lake. Loving grandmother of June Shoemaker and her husband Barry, Stanley "Stas" Pogoda and his wife Kathleen, Carol Pogoda and her companion Keith Cooper, Philip H. Meisner, Jeffrey W. Meisner and his companion Erika Dianovsky. Cherished great grandmother of Rob and Stephanie Pogoda. Dear sister of the late Steve, Emil and Filomina. Loving aunt of many nieces and nephews. Also survived by her devoted caregivers, Janina, Alla and Jadzia. Funeral Friday 10 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, and 11 AM at St. Joseph's RC Church, Passaic. Entombment, Garden of Memories, Washington Twsp. Visiting Thursday 3-7 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations made to your favorite charity in memory of Wanda, would be greatly appreciated.
