Walter Vladyka, 86, of Clifton, passed away on October 8, 2014. Born in Garfield, he lived there and in Wallington before moving to Clifton in 1953. A parishioner of St. John Kanty RC Church, Clifton, Walter was a Machine Operator for Deluxe Check Printers in Clifton and West Caldwell for 38 years, retiring in 1989. Walter was an Army Veteran of the Korean War with the 981st Construction Engineers Battalion. An active member of the Athenia Veterans Post, Clifton, Walter served as the Sgt. of the Color Guard for many years and was also a member of the Quentin-Roosevelt American Legion Post #8, Clifton. Walter was a former member of the Fife and Drum Bugle Corp of the Wallington VFW, the Garfield Cadets Drum and Bugle Corp, and the Doremus Drum and Bugle Corp of Hackensack. Devoted husband for 61 years of Dolores (Macaluso). Beloved father of Judy Linn Neigel and her husband Andrew of Hopatcong, and Brian J. Vladyka and his wife Jacqueline of Hackettstown. Dear brother of the late Anna Pietrowski. Loving grandfather of 4. Funeral Saturday 8 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, and 9 AM at St. John Kanty RC Church, Clifton. Interment, St. Mary's Cemetery, Saddle Brook. Visiting Friday 4-8 PM at the funeral home.
