Obituary

Walter Smolak, 82, of Clifton passed away on April 2 nd , 2020. Born in Vola Matyczova', Poland, he came to the US in 1959 and lived in Brooklyn NY before moving to Clifton. Walter attended Technical School in Brooklyn and worked for Liberty Provisions and Thumann's. He was a Member of St Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Passaic, NJ.

Beloved husband of Olga Smolak (nee Zurawski) . Devoted father of Luba Mikula and her husband George J Mikula Jr. and Lesia Krysyna and her husband Bogdan Krysyna. Loving grandfather of George J Mikula III , Taisa Krysyna (her Fiancée Nick Airey), Diana Mikula, Stefan Krysyna and Giana Mikula. Walter is predeceased by his parents Anna and John, and a sister Olya Smolak; he is survived by sisters Kasia Szyp and Maria Leskiw.

Walter loved his family more than anything and enjoyed spending time with them. Also, he was proud to be an American while following and honoring the traditions and customs of his Ukrainian Heritage. His most cherished role was as a Grandfather or as he was respectfully called "Dido". Walter was very fond of his garden, all sports and vacationing in Wildwood Crest. His smile was always a welcome sight as you could see the genuine happiness in his eyes which was a true reflection of his inner spirit.

Services will be private under the direction of the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton.

In lieu of flowers, d onations in memory of Walter can be made as a M emorial and sent to the family which will be donated to the nurses and doctors who cared for him at the hospital. www.ShookFH.com
