Walter Samula, 96, of Clifton, passed away on February 18, 2013. Born in Poland, he came to the US in 1951 and lived in Passaic, Garfield and Wallington before moving to Clifton in 1964. A parishioner of St. John Kanty RC Church, Clifton, Walter was a draftsman and checker at Atlantic Design Co., in Newark for 24 years, retiring in 1984. Previously he worked for Thomas Electronics Co., Inc., in Passaic for 9 years. Walter served with the Polish Army for 10 years. During WW II, Walter was held for 2 years in a Russian Labor Camp in Siberia as a POW. Walter was a member of the Polish Army Veterans Association of America, Post # 36, Passaic, and served as Treasurer and Secretary for many years. Beloved husband of the late Jadzia who passed away in 1974, and the late Helena who passed away in 1995. Devoted father of Janina Potoczny of Clifton. Loving grandfather of Elizabeth of Bloomingdale and Grace of Kinnelon and 4 great grandsons. Dear brother of the late Stanislaw and Jan Samula, Stefania Sochacz and Bronislawa Kucharzak. Funeral Friday 9 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, and 10 AM at St. John Kanty RC Church, Clifton. Interment, St. Michael's Cemetery, South Hackensack.
