Obituary

Walter Hitchuk, 94, of Stallings, NC, formerly of Clifton, passed away on August 23, 2015. Born in Clifton, he lived there most of his life, moving to Stallings 4 years ago. A parishioner of Ss. Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Cathedral, Passaic, Walter was an Iron Worker for Structural Steel in Carlstadt for over 35 years, retiring in 1986, and was a member of the International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental, and Reinforcing Iron Workers Shopman Union Local # 502. An Army Air Force Veteran during WW II, Walter was a Staff Sergeant with the 158th Army Airway Communications System, and was a member of the Athenia Veterans Post, Clifton. Beloved husband of the late Mary (Russnak) who passed away in 1985. Devoted father of Barbara Koehler and her husband Robert of Stallings, NC, the late Walter who passed away in 2012 and his wife Betty of Georgia, and Michael Roger who passed away in 2013. Loving grandfather of Vicki Koehler Coger, Lori Koehler Ritz and her husband Michael, Dr. Renee Koehler Van Norman and her husband Keith, Allison Koehler, Natalie Hitchuk Campbell and her husband Kurt, Michelle Hitchuk Langston and her husband Randy, Laura Hitchuk Kesner and her husband Jason, Brian Hitchuk and his wife Adrianna, and 10 great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Olga Johnson of Louisana, and the late Paul. Loving uncle of several nieces and nephews. Funeral Saturday 8:45 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave. Clifton, and 10 AM at Ss. Peter and Paul RO Cathedral, Passaic. Interment, Ss. Peter & Paul RO Cemetery, Saddle Brook. Visiting Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the funeral home, with Parastas at 7:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations made to Levine & Dickson Hospice House, 8919 Park Rd., Suite 1000, Charlotte, NC 28210, in memory of Walter, would be greatly appreciated.
