Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, February 27, 2026, 4-8 PM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. Funeral Saturday, February 28, 2026, 9:15 AM at the funeral and 10:30 AM at St. John Kanty RC Church, Clifton. Cremation will be private.

Dr. Vincent Joseph Giardino of Woodland Park (formerly of Clifton and Passaic) passed away at home on February 18, 2026. Born May 17, 1936 at St. Mary's Hospital in Passaic, NJ (an Institution he would later serve as Hospital Board President twice), to Joseph and Rose V. (Failla) Giardino.

Vinnie grew up in and around Clifton, where he enjoyed being a part of the Clifton High School Track and Field Team, lettering in Pole Vault, performing in talent shows with his brother and being part of the Garfield – Holy Name Cadets. It was during his High School years that he met the love of his life, the former Elaine Halka, whom he would keep close to his side for the next 72 years.

An active parishioner of St. John Kanty RC Church, Clifton, Dr. Vince was a member of the Holy Name Society, served as an Usher for over 40 years, and served on the SJK Pre-Cana team for many years.

Vincent served his country in the Naval reserves for 8 years and studied Pre-Med at Villanova University, graduating in 1958 before marrying his love and leaving for Medical school in Rome and Bologna, Italy. Before long, three daughters and a son were added to the mix (along with several dogs, cats, fish and hamsters over the years). Vincent was a dedicated family man and took his entourage with him everywhere, traveling extensively throughout Western Europe and the United States. He enjoyed camping, singing, horseback riding, skating, sledding, swimming, and eating!

Dr. Vinnie was also a dedicated Physician and proof that you can be both and do both "family man" and "medicine man" successfully. He served his patients from his office in Garfield, St Mary's Hospital in Passaic, Passaic General Hospital, the Wallington Clinic, Sports Medicine Physician at Passaic High School, Pope Pius High School in Passaic and the Elmwood Park School System throughout his 50 year career. He was a member of the Passaic County Medical Society, the Bergen County Medical Society, and the NJ Medical Society.

Vincent is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Elaine (Halka) Giardino, daughters, Elaine Giardino (Ana), Theresa Bronkowski (Allan), Donna Egan and son, Daniel Giardino (Michele), grandchildren Allan Bronkowski (Alyssa), Kristina Bronkowski, Vincent Giardino, Brian Egan (Jackie), Thomas Giardino, Kyle Egan, great-grandchildren Ava Bronkowski, Giuliana Bronkowski and Lucas Bronkowski, sister Carolyn Sudol, as well as many bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, godchildren, cousins, aunt, and caregivers Ganna German and Pat Van Hine.
