Thomas E. Maat, 67, of Highlands, passed away on July 14, 2011. Born in Passaic, he lived in Clifton and Garfield most of his life before moving to Highlands 10 years ago. A Marine Corps Veteran of the Vietnam War, Thomas was a former member of the Albion VFW Post # 7165, Clifton. Thomas was a Foreman for Specialty Molding Co. in Newark for many years before retiring in 1991. An avid fisherman, he loved fishing, boating and hunting and was a former Snare Drummer with the Garfield Cadets where he won numerous awards. Beloved father of Donna Blackman of Mapleshade, Thomas P. of Toms River, Christine Scott and her husband David of New Milford, CT, and Peter G. and his wife Delia of Little Egg Harbor. Dear brother of Charles of VA and Cornelius of PA. Loving grandfather of Marina, Morgan, Kyrin, Abby, Zachary and Keira Lynn.
