Theodore E. Vanak, Jr.'s Obituary
Theodore E. Vanak, Jr., 71, of Clifton, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on January 15, 2017. Born in Passaic, he was a lifelong resident of Clifton.
A member of the Clifton Mustang Band, Ted was a 1964 graduate of Clifton High School and received a BA Degree in Sociology from Fairleigh Dickinson University. A parishioner of St. Philip the Apostle RC Church, Clifton, Ted was a Navy Veteran during the Vietnam War. Ted had worked for Okonite Cable, Passaic, Troy Co., Fairfield, UniRoyal, Passaic, and the Clifton/Passaic Herald News for many years. He then owned and operated Ted's Affordable Cleaning Service in Clifton for the past 28 years. In the 1980's he served as Treasurer for Cub Scout Pack #21 for 6 years.
Beloved husband for 46 years of Jacqueline (Burns). Devoted father of Jonathan and his wife Amy of Little Falls, and Michael of Clifton. Loving grandfather of Morgan and Taylor. Dear son of the late Theodore and Joan (Sobota). Cherished brother of Dorothea Opat and her husband Henry of West Milford. Dear uncle of Jennifer Booth, Jason Opat, Mark Antista and many other nieces and nephews. Sadly missed by his trusty companion "Bentley".
Funeral Wednesday 8:45 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, and 10 AM at St. Philip the Apostle RC Church, Clifton. Entombment, Calvary Cemetery, Paterson. Visiting Tuesday 4-8 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38501, www.StJude.org , in memory of Ted, would be greatly appreciated.
