Sylveretta McGaw, 81, of East Orange passed away on January 10, 2026. Born in Jamaica, she traveled to the US in 1997 and lived in Florida before settling in East Orange. Sylveretta worked as a dietician for Berkley Heights Senior Living, Berkley Heights, for many years before retiring. She loved gardening.

Devoted mother of Richard McGaw, Rosalie McGaw, Phillip Chin, Christine McGaw, Anthony McGaw, Ian McGaw and Ricardo Blake. Loving grandmother of Natalia Williams, David Jenkins, Chad Powell, Kristina, Jessica and Ian McGaw, Aneika, Richard and Phillip Blake. Cherished great-grandmother of Nathaniel and Nathan Leslie, Jhess-Ann Cummins, Allison Sinclair, Jayla Cummins and Kristoff Powell. Dear sister of Iclyin Gordon, Beres Ferd, Louis Gaghardar, Icylda Graham and Beverly Ramdeen.
