Stephen R. Mekita, 85, of Clifton passed away on August 30, 2024. Born and raised in Lodi, Stephen lived in Passaic for some time before moving to Clifton in 1979. A veteran of the US National Guard, he was a machine operator for PSEG for 34 years before retiring. Stephen was an avid fisherman and was loved for his vegetable garden which he proudly shared with friends and neighbors.

Beloved husband of the late Judith (Anema) who passed away in 2016. Devoted father of Stephen and his wife Lesia of Greensboro, NC, and the late Robert who passed away in 2022. Father-in-law of Heidi Mekita. Loving grandfather of 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Ruthy Sallick of Garfield and Peter Mekita, Jr. of Ramsey and the late Gloria Buchanan.

Visiting Tuesday, 5-7PM at the Shook Funeral Home with a prayer service beginning at 6:30PM. Cremation will be private.
