Stanley J. Lacz, 84, of Denville passed away on March 30, 2022. Born in Paterson, he lived in Little Falls and Woodland Park before recently settling in Denville. A member of the Passaic County Planning Board, Stanley was an architect, engineer, planner and the owner and operator of AEP Associates for many years before retiring in December of 2012. He attended The University of Notre Dame, class of 1960, where he earned a Bachelor of Architecture. Stanley, lovingly called Stasui, was an avid gardener, gourmet chef, voracious reader, enthusiastic skier and sailor and lifelong fan of Notre Dame college football. He was a Renaissance man - extremely knowledgeable, generous and kind - incredibly proud of his family and always happy to help others.
Stanley was a proud member of the following professional societies: American Institute of Architects (AIA) 1969, National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) 1965, New Jersey Society of Professional Engineers, where he served as a Trustee in 1972, Passaic County Society of Professional Engineers, where he served as President in 1972, American Institute of Planners (AIP), New Jersey Chapter, where he served as Secretary in 1972, Passaic County Interprofessional Council, where he served as Organizer and President in 1973, New Jersey Society of Architects, Architect League of Northern New Jersey, American Planning Association (APA) 1986, New Jersey Federation of Planning Officials, 1987, Constructions Specifications Institute (CSI), the American Arbitration Association, 1987, the Passaic County Historical Society where he served as past president, and he was a member of the Koscuiszko Foundation and the Polish University Club. Stanley was recognized in the following Who's Who in the East, 1975, American Biographical Institute, 1975, Dictionary of International Biography, 1978, Men of Achievement, Cambridge, England, 1978, Who's Who in Society, 1986, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, 1993, and International Biographical Centre, Cambridge, England, 1988.
Loving father of Darria Kolenut and her husband Martin of Randolph, Kimberly A. Scotti, Esq. and her late husband Dr. Michael B. Scotti of Denville, Scott Lacz and his wife Maria of Wyckoff, Kristin Lacz of Hawthorne, Sarah Lacz and her husband Matt Von Klemperer of Maplewood and Katie Lawrence and her husband Mark of NY, NY. Proud grandfather of Alexis and Thaddeus Lazor, Martin Kolenut, Morgan and Andrew Kropilak, Scott, Carli and Chase Lacz, Amanda Lacz, Jamie Lacz Von Klemperer, Chloe, Quinn and Madeleine Lawrence. Cherished great-grandfather of Layla and Christian Lazor, Haylei Daghestani, AJ Lacz and Lillian Kropilak. Devoted husband to Peggy (Dujets) Lacz, married 1974-2018 and Diane (Ormsby) Lacz, married 1961-1973. Treasured uncle to numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He is predeceased by his loving parents, John S. Lacz, Esq. and Harriet (Strezewski) Lacz of Paterson, NJ, and his siblings, John A. Lacz, Harriet (Lacz) Barwick, Franklin Lacz and Stephanie (Lacz) Zonenberg.
Visitation Sunday, April 3 rd , 2 – 6 PM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, NJ. Funeral Service Monday, April 4 th , 8:45 AM at the funeral home and 10 AM at St. Philip the Apostle RC Church, Clifton, NJ. Interment, Calvary Cemetery, Paterson, NJ.
