Sophie (Plachinski) Gula (11/3/28 – 12/11/22) passed away peacefully on December 11, 2022.  Sophie was born and raised in Wallington, N.J. and attended the Wallington School System and graduated from Lodi High School.  After marriage she spent the rest of her life in Clifton.  She is predeceased by her parents, Anthony and Mary Plachinski, her husband, Lt. Michael Gula, and her brother Henry Plachinski.

Sophie is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Michele and Edward Lazor of Mahwah, N.J., Marcia and Fred Pepe of Wayne, N.J.  She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Frank Pepe and his wife Maria, Marissa and her husband David Jenkins, Mariel Pepe, Meghan Lazor, and Michael Lazor and great grandchildren Jake, Gianna, and Austin Pepe, and Lilly and Scarlet Jenkins.

Sophie was a parishioner of SS. Peter and Paul PNCC Church in Passaic.  She was employed by Prudential, Curtiss Wright, ADP and the Passaic County Probation Department.   Sophie loved fashion, dances, movies and the Jersey shore.  In her retirement she enjoyed time with her family, fine dining, holidays and traveling.

Visiting Thursday 3 – 7 PM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. Funeral Service Friday 10 AM at the funeral home. Interment, East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton.
