Sister Mary Viola

Funeral services for Sister Mary Viola Krisman will be held at the Felician Sisters Infirmary Chapel, Our Lady of Lourdes Hall, at 10:00 a.m. on Friday morning, June 25, 2010. Following the Mass of Christian Burial, Sister will be laid to rest in the Felician Sisters Cemetery in Lodi. Sister Mary Viola died on June 22, 2010 in Lodi. She was 98 years old and had been a Felician Sister for 81 years. A wake service will be held at the same location on Thursday evening, June 24 at 6:00 p.m.

The former Helen Krisman, Sister Mary Viola was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1912. She entered the postulancy of the Felician Sisters in Lodi in 1928, and received the Felician habit in 1930. She made first religious vows in 1931 and professed final vows in 1937.

Involved in the educational ministry as well as the healthcare ministry , Sister Mary Viola earned an R.N. from the Misericordia Hospital School of Nursing in New York City, and a B.S. degree in Nursing Education from Saint Johns University in New York. She spent many years as a nurse in Saint Joseph Hospital, Philadelphia. Sister Mary Viola is survived by several members of her extended family, most of whom live in Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
