Sister Mary Modesta, Funeral services for Sister Mary Modesta Wesolowska will be held at the Felician Sisters' Infirmary Chapel, Our Lady of Lourdes Hall, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday morning, December 30, 2011. Following the Mass of Christian Burial, Sister Modesta will be laid to rest in the Felician Sisters' Cemetery in Lodi. Sister Mary Modesta died on December 26, 2011 in Lodi, she was 95 years old and had been a Felician Sister for 77 years. An Evening Prayer service will be held at the same location on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. The former Genevieve Wesolowska, Sister Mary Modesta was born in Passaic in 1916. She entered the postulancy of the Felician Sisters in Lodi in 1934, and received the Felician habit in 1936. She made first religious vows in 1937 and professed final vows in 1943. Sister Mary Modesta was involved in several ministries during her religious life: educator; missionary in Brazil, South America; provincial councilor; director of retreats; and pastoral care. In addition to her religious community and professional colleagues, Sister Modesta is survived by the following family members: Six living nieces and nephews: Paul Di Paolo and spouse Marie Terry Di Paolo and spouse Catherine Martha Di Paolo Cathy Di Paolo Widner and spouse Mark Mary Ann Di Paolo Wohlgemuth and spouse Ron Diane Babiarz Crowell Nine great nieces and nephews: Paul Di Paolo and wife Rachel James Di Paolo and wife Nancy Andrea Di Paolo Maita and husband Bob Denise Di Paolo Selleck and husband Mark Terry Di Paolo Lauren Widner Cheryl Widner Jeffrey Widner Brad Wohlgemuth and wife Noelle and 9 Great Great Nieces and nephews Arrangements under the direction of the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. www.shookfh.com
