Sister Mary Loretta. Funeral services for Sister Mary Loretta Borkowski will be held at the Felician Sisters Immaculate Conception Chapel in Lodi at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday morning, April 7, 2011. Following the Mass of Christian Burial, Sister Loretta will be laid to rest in the Felician Sisters Cemetery in Lodi. Sister Mary Loretta died on April 3, 2011 in Hackensack, New Jersey. She was 81 years old and had been a Felician Sister for 64 years. An Evening Prayer service will be held at the same location on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at 6:00 p.m.

The former Mary Borkowski, Sister Mary Loretta was born in Baltimore, MD in 1929. She entered the postulancy of the Felician Sisters in Lodi, New Jersey in 1946, and received the Felician habit in 1947. She made first religious vows in 1948 and professed final vows in 1954.

At the time of her death Sister Mary Loretta was principal of the Felician School for Exceptional Children in Lodi, New Jersey. She had ministered at the Felician School since 1971 as a teacher and then in administrative roles. She also taught the elementary grades in various schools staffed by the Felician Sisters in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware. She was a Special Education Teacher at the Mount Carmel Guild in Newark from 1964 through 1971. Sister Mary Loretta is survived by her sister, also a Felician Sister, Sister Mary Ramona Borkowski of Saint Felix Convent in Lodi, New Jersey, and by nieces, nephews and other members of her extended family, most of whom live in Maryland.
