Sister Mary Joanne. Funeral services for Sister Mary Joanne Ustaszewska will be held at the Felician Sisters Infirmary Chapel, Our Lady of Lourdes Hall, at 11:30 AM on Friday morning, March 25, 2011. Following the Mass of Christian Burial, Sister Joanne will be laid to rest in the Felician Sisters Cemetery in Lodi.

Sister Mary Joanne died on March 23, 2011 in Lodi, NJ. She was 92 years old and had been a Felician Sister for 70 years.

An Evening Prayer service will be held at the same location on Thursday, March 24, 2011 at 6:00 PM. The former Mary Ustaszewska, Sister Mary Joanne was born in Baltimore, MD in 1918. She entered the postulancy of the Felician Sisters in Lodi, NJ in 1940, and received the Felician habit in 1941. She made first religious vows in 1942 and professed final vows in 1948. Sister Mary Joanne dedicated herself to the ministries of healthcare and nursing education. She was on the staff of Saint Josephs Hospital in Philadelphia, PA; Blackwell General Hospital in Blackwell, Oklahoma; Saint Ignatius Nursing Home in Philadelphia, PA. She was also nursing administrator of Our Lady of Lourdes Infirmary in Lodi. She was a nursing educator at Felician College from 1969 through 1982. She was also a nurse at Immaculate Conception High School in Lodi, NJ.

Sister Mary Joanne is survived by nieces, nephews and other members of her extended family, most of whom live in Maryland and Pennsylvania. Arrangements under the direction of the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. www.shookfh.com
