Funeral services for Sister Mary Joanette Miescier will be held at the Felician Sisters Infirmary Chapel, Our Lady of Lourdes Hall, at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday morning, February 10, 2011. Following the Mass of Christian Burial, Sister Joanette will be laid to rest in the Felician Sisters Cemetery in Lodi.

Sister Mary Joanette died on February 5, 2011 in Lodi, New Jersey. She was 97 years old and had been a Felician Sister for 78 years.

An Evening Prayer service will be held at the same location on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. The former Cecilia Miescier, Sister Mary Joanette was born in Mt Carmel, PA in 1913. She entered the postulancy of the Felician Sisters in Lodi, New Jersey in 1932, and received the Felician habit in 1933. She made first religious vows in 1934 and professed final vows in 1940. Sister Mary Joanette dedicated herself to the ministry of education in Catholic schools staffed by the Felician Sisters in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Washington, DC.

Sister Mary Joanette is survived by her twin sister, Sister Mary Angelita Miescier, who is a resident at Our Lady of Lourdes Care Center, Lodi, NJ. Sister Joanette is also survived by members of her extended family as well as professional colleagues and friends.
