Firmina Funeral services for Sister Mary Firmina Lajewska will be held at the Felician Sisters' Immaculate Conception Convent Chapel, Lodi, at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 15, 2012. Sister Firmina will then be laid to rest in the Felician Sisters' Cemetery. Sister Mary Firmina died on February 12, 2012 in Lodi. She was 95 years old and had been a Felician Sister for 79 years. A Wake Service with Evening Prayer will be held at Immaculate Conception Chapel on Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m. The former Mary Agnes Lajewska, Sister Mary Firmina was born in Sayreville, New Jersey in 1916. She entered the postulancy of the Felician Sisters in Lodi, New Jersey in 1932; received the Felician habit in 1933; professed her first vows in 1934 and final vows in 1940. From 1964 until 2006, Sister Firmina ministered at Felician College in various positions including Dean of Students, Director of Teacher Education, Professor of Math and Coordinator of Strategic Planning. Before that she taught in schools staffed by the Felician Sisters on the elementary and secondary levels. Sister Mary Firmina is mourned by many members of her extended family living in the Sayreville and South Amboy area of New Jersey, by her religious family and by numerous professional colleagues and friends.
