Sister Mary Fidelis, Funeral services for Sister Mary Fidelis Gazda will be held at the Felician Sisters' Infirmary Chapel, Our Lady of Lourdes Hall, at 11 AM on Saturday morning, January 14, 2012. Following the Mass of Christian Burial, Sister will be laid to rest in the Felician Sisters' Cemetery in Lodi. Sister Mary Fidelis died on January 11, 2012 in Lodi. She was 89 years old and had been a Felician Sister for 71 years. An Evening Prayer service will be held 6 PM at the same location on Friday evening, January 13, 2012. The former Eleanore Agnes Gazda, Sister Mary Fidelis was born in Perth Amboy in 1922. She entered the postulancy of the Felician Sisters in Lodi in 1940, and received the Felician habit in 1941. She made first religious vows in 1942 and professed final vows in 1948. Her primary ministry was education. She taught for forty years on the elementary level and was also a principal for 15 years. She ministered in schools staffed by the Felician Sisters in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland. Sister Mary Fidelis is mourned by her sister Edna and her brother-in-law Gilbert Volosin of Edison, her niece Phyllis Ricci of Spotswood, her nephew David Volosin and his wife Debbie of Oak Ridge, and by members of her extended family.
