Sister Mary Antonia

Funeral services for Sister Mary Antonia Miodowski will be held at the Felician Sisters Infirmary Chapel, Our Lady of Lourdes Hall, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, May 8, 2010. Following the Mass of Christian Burial, Sister will be laid to rest in the Felician Sisters Cemetery in Lodi.

Sister Mary Antonia died on May 5, 2010 in Lodi, New Jersey. She was 92 years old and had been a Felician Sister for 74 years. She was scheduled to celebrate her diamond jubilee of religious life on May 23.

A wake service will be held at the same location on Friday evening, May 7 at 6:00 p.m.

The former Anastasia Miodowski, Sister Mary Antonia was born in Bayonne, New Jersey in 1917. She entered the postulancy of the Felician Sisters in Lodi, New Jersey in 1935, and received the Felician habit in 1936. She made first religious vows in 1937 and professed final vows in 1943. An elementary and high school teacher , Sister Mary Antonia earned a B.S. degree in elementary education at Seton Hall University and a M.A. in French at Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.

Sister Mary Antonia is survived by her brother, the Rev. Leonard Miodowski of Rutherford, NJ, as well as by members of her extended family. Arrangements under the direction of the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. www.shookfh.com
