Rosamund Maolucci, 89, passed away on Wednesday, January 26, 2011.
Born Rose Marie Scacco in McKees Rock PA. on January 10, 1922, she took the stage name Baby Rosemarie Cellini when she began a career performing as a child. Considered a child prodigy, she was billed as the "worlds greatest girl accordionist" of the l920's, 30's, and 40's. She shared the stage with such icons as Red Skelton, Dick Powell, Ethel Merman,and the Three Stooges.
She attended the Juilliard School of Music in NY and later became a music teacher with her father at the Cellini Accordion School of Newark.
She retired in 1963 after moving to Kearny to raise and care for her family and where she developed a new skill of baking great pies.
Devoted wife to the late Louis Maolucci Sr. and predeceased in death by her parents Michael Angelo and Rosina Cellini and sisters Grace Timpano and Dolores Turco.
Survived by son Louis Jr., daughter Lisa Mendyk and her husband John, beloved grandson John, and devoted son John who lovingly cared for her in her final years.
Memorial Mass, Saturday, February 5, 2011, 9AM at St. John Kanty RC Church, 49 Speer Ave., Clifton. Interment of Cremains immediately following at Holy Cross Cemetery, No. Arlington. Arrangements under the direction of the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. www.shookfh.com
