Ronald L. Pihokker, age 71, of Clifton passed away on Wednesday, December 11 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Wayne. Born in Passaic, Ron grew up in Garfield and lived most of his life in Clifton.
He attended St. Stephen's Grammar School in Passaic and then went on to Pope Pius XII High School. A graduate of Seton Hall University, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Masters of Education with a concentration in Religious Education.
Throughout his life, Ron found great fulfillment in his faith and his involvement in the Secular Franciscan Order. He held many local, regional and national positions and particularly enjoyed the roles he held which emphasized faith formation.
For the last 24 years of his career, he took pride in serving as the Director of Catechetics for the Archdiocese of Newark. A dedicated parishioner of Holy Angels in Little Falls, Ron served as a valued member of the choir where he found fulfillment and expression for his love of music.
Outside of work and service, Ron enjoyed boating, fishing, history, music, astronomy and the family dogs. He was a true life-long learner and loved to share his knowledge with others. Ron's greatest joy; however, was being a loving grandpa to his four grandchildren.
Ron is predeceased by his parents, Michael and Margaret Pihokker. He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Jody; and his loving children Kristen Errickson and her husband Clifford of Flemington and Matthew Pihokker and his wife Michelle Nugent; his four beloved grandchildren, Natalie, Owen, Ava and Charlotte, and many, many friends who will miss him dearly.
