Rita D. Acevedo, 86, of Clifton, passed away on August 18, 2026. Born in the Dominican Republic, she traveled to the US in 1987 and first lived in the Bronx, NY, then Manhattan, NY, and later moved to Passaic before settling in Clifton 22 years ago. She enjoyed taking care of her plants and cooking. She loved watching Spanish soap operas, listening to music and going shopping.

Devoted mother of Manuel Acevedo and his partner Melissa Friedman and Elsie Acevedo and her husband Carlos. Loving grandmother of Vanessa Santiago, Sila Acevedo, Carly Gorostiva and Ethan Friedman-Acevedo. Cherished great-grandmother of Kelsey Hernandez and Jaelyn Custodio. Dear sister of Magalis, Caridad, Mercedita, Fefa and the late Rafael Acevedo.

Visiting Monday, August 24, 2026,  5 to 8 PM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. Funeral Tuesday, August 25, 2024, 11 AM at the funeral home. Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery, N. Arlington.
