Peter Zawada, 87, of Clifton, passed away on April 29, 2016. Born in Clifton, he was a lifelong resident.
A parishioner of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Passaic, Peter was an Electrician for Ford Motor Co. in Mahwah and Metuchen for 28 years, and later the US Postal Service in Jersey City for 15 years, retiring in 1999. An Army Veteran during Peacetime, Peter was a member of the Athenia Veterans Post, the Ukrainian-American Veterans, Post #17, the Ford Retirees, and was a Freemason.
Beloved husband for 48 years of Nadia (Wolosko). Devoted father of Natalie Gribbin and her husband James of Garden City, NY, John Zawada and his wife Robin of Mountain Lakes, and the late Peter Zawada, Jr.. Loving grandfather of Liam and Calum Gribbin, and Dean Zawada. Dear brother of Eva Raketsky of Clifton, and the late John, Harry, William and Stephen Zawada.
Funeral Tuesday 8:45 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, and 10 AM at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Passaic. Interment, East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton. Visiting Monday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the funeral home, Parastas at 3 PM.
