Peter Flis, age 25, died suddenly on May 22, 2026. He was born in Hackensack, NJ and grew up in Clifton. He was an extremely intelligent young man, having achieved high honors and receiving scholarships to both Don Bosco High School and New Jersey Institute of Technology. He was especially gifted in mathematics and achieved a perfect score on the SAT.

Peter was an athlete and excelled in swimming and cross-country track. He also was a skillful ballroom dancer and equestrian. He liked the outdoors and nature.

He loved playing video games and was extremely adept at the ins and outs of computers, leading him to earn both his Bachelor’s degree and Master’s in Computer Engineering. Upon graduating, he was employed by FAST, a premier provider of software and consulting services to government agencies, and worked in their offices in New York, Colorado, and Oklahoma.

Peter was quiet and introspective. He was polite, courteous, and not just respectful but respected by his colleagues.

Peter was deeply loved and his loss is felt profoundly by his parents, Piotr Flis and Monika Lipowska, his grandmother Marianna Flis, his aunt Ewa Boehm, his cousin Mateusz Khalil, and many other maternal cousins and family in Poland. He was preceded in death by his grandfather Marian Flis.

A visitation/celebration of life will be held on June 6th from 2:00 pm-6:00 pm at the Shook Funeral Home located at 639 Van Houten Avenue in Clifton, NJ. He will be buried with a traditional sacred Catholic ritual in his mother’s hometown of Staporkow, Poland.
