Pedro Pablo Paternina Diaz, 84, of Wayne passed away on October 12, 2026. Born in Sincelejo, Colombia, Pedro came to the United States on July 3, 1981 and settled in Paterson before moving to Wayne in 2024. He was a metal welder at Fein Container Corporation in Saddle Brook and later a machine operator for Titan Tool Co. in Oakland for many years before retiring. Pedro was a believer in Jesus Christ whose humble, generous, and faithful spirit touched countless lives. He loved Afro-Latino music, culture, and cuisine of his beloved Colombia, sharing that love with others. Deeply cherished by his community in Paterson, Pedro will be remembered for his warmth, infectious humor, and wit for giving people endearing nicknames. His laughter, kindness, and joyful spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Beloved husband for 55 years of the late Aura Rosa Galindo Paternina who passed away in 2020. Devoted father of Pablo Paternina and his wife Cila, Erick Paternina and his wife Diana, Martha Paternina, Claudia Paternina-Schultes, and Fabiana Bloom and her husband Zachary. Cherished grandfather of Paul, Erick, Johana, Jesus, Angel, Pedro, Ethan, Andre, Abigail, Kevin, Antonio, David, Silas, Elliot, Camila, and Asher. Loving great-grandfather of Juniper, Mariella, Dexter, Ily, and Lionel.

Visitation will take place Sunday, October 18, 2026 from 2-6PM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. The Funeral will take place Monday, October 19, 2026 starting at 10AM at the funeral home with a prayer service beginning at 10:30AM. Interment to follow at Crest Haven Memorial Park, Clifton.
