Obituary

Paul Victor Williams, affectionately known as Pablo, was born on November 18, 1947, in Spalding, Jamaica, West Indies. He was the beloved son of his late parents, Mavis Heron and Neville Williams. Paul was surrounded by family as he peacefully entered eternal life on Thursday, April 24, 2025. From a young age, whether viewing baseball or American football, Paul was a sports fanatic; he was a huge Mets fan. In 1966, Paul graduated from Holmwood Technical High, Manchester, Jamaica, a school renowned for outstanding academic performances and producing world-class athletes in cricket, netball, swimming, and girls' athletic championships. Holmwood's Motto, "Deeds Not Words", was a legacy lived by Paul throughout his entire life. He had a generous heart and was extremely giving… He gave of himself in life and death.

Paul was employed by Alcan Jamaica, Ltd., where he worked for a number of years before relocating to the United States in 1984. A longtime resident of New Jersey, Paul worked in the pharmaceutical industry, for a number of years at Hoffman-La-Roche and then at Merck Pharmaceuticals where he retired after 22 years of service.

While residing in Jamaica, Paul met up with his high school dear friend, Moreen (nee Dyer), and their friendship quickly developed into courtship for two years. In 1984, Paul relocated to the United States; in 1986, Paul and Moreen were joined in holy matrimony.

As Moreen communicated, Paul was the best husband any woman could ever have. In her own words, my prayer for all single women who desire to be married is that God will send them a husband with similar characteristics and who would love them the way Paul loved me. Moreen was always the priority in their union. He once told his daughters, Marsha and Chevoneese, that "if I had money, no man would marry you." In other words, Paul believed no man was good enough for his daughters and if he could, he would provide for them indefinitely.

Paul and Moreen enjoyed vacationing together. They traveled to Canada, Curacao, the Bahamas, and often returned to Jamaica, a land of wood and water, to enjoy the beautiful beaches and culture, while spending time with family and friends. Paul's daughters described their dad as a quiet man whose words were always impactful. Dad had the best stories and an infectious laugh. His smile and hugs would make everything alright. It feels so strange to realize that we will no longer receive a "hi sugar" on the other end of the call from our dad.

Paul was the epitome of a devoted husband who loved his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, and other family members. He was truly a loving and caring husband, dad, granddad, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and uncle-in-law, cousin, and dear friend. We were blessed to have him in our lives.

In his faith life, Paul was a born-again believer in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. A member at Valley Chapel for 28 years, Paul's faith journey flourished, where he served as a board member for 3 years and an usher for several years. Paul remained faithful member of TLC Valley Chapel until he transitioned into eternity. Paul enjoyed studying the Bible and loved the Gospels, specifically his namesake, Paul's writings. He adored worshiping the Lord and had fun dancing to his favorite music.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Mavis Heron and Neville Williams. His brothers, Richard (Dickey) and Peter Williams.

He leaves to cherish his memory: daughters Denise (Dana) Davis, Marsha Williams, Keisha (Vincent) Griffin, and Chevoneese Prendergast. Sons: Christopher (Melody) Williams, and Andrew Williams, grandsons: Michael Rodney, Jr., Miles and Mason Rodney and Christopher Williams, Jr. (CJ). Granddaughters: Amaiya and Ana-Liese Torian. Sisters: Paulette (Maurice) Henry, Nevine Heaven, Marie Brown and Michaela Douglas. Grandchildren: Vanessa (Damien) Baker and Brittane Green; other grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sisters-in-law: Audrey Golding, Jacque Dyer, and Althea Dyer. Brother-in-law, Norris (Winsome) Dyer. Close cousins: Georgia Allen and Deanna Bassaragh. He also left a host of nieces, nephews, nephews-in-law, nieces-in-law, aunt, cousins, as well as other family and friends to celebrate his life. The heavens have opened up, the angels rejoiced and welcome you home, our dearly beloved Paul Victor Williams.

We loved you with all our hearts.
