She was born on January 27, 1947 in Newark, New Jersey to Mildred and James Clayton. She graduated from Battin High School in Elizabeth New Jersey in 1965. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Newark State College in 1969. She worked as an elementary school teacher at School 19 in Elizabeth, New Jersey from 1970 – 1976. Once her first child was born she stayed at home as a mother until 1988 when she returned to teaching at Timothy Christian School in Piscataway, New Jersey until 2000. Patricia then worked as an ESL instructor then as a teacher's aide in a special needs classroom at Roosevelt Elementary School in Rahway, New Jersey until 2015 when she became ill.
Patricia enjoyed sewing, exploring the local New England area, camping, and reading. She was a pillar of the Mountainside Gospel Chapel family in Mountainside, New Jersey. However, her true joy in this world came first from the Lord, then from her family. Especially her nine grandchildren whom she showered with love and attention.
She was a compassionate and selfless person who put the needs of others before herself. Her confidence and strength came from her faith in God and His Son, her savior Jesus Christ.
