In Loving Memory of Padmavati K. Desai
[04/17/1931] – [03/06/2025]
With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Padmavati K. Desai, 93, also fondly remembered as 'Masi,' our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, on Thursday, March 6th, 2025. She left this world surrounded by love, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, wisdom, and unwavering devotion to family.
Born in Kampala, Uganda, Masi was a pillar of strength and a guiding light to all who knew her. From a very young age, she faced countless hurdles in her life, but she always persevered and overcame any challenge with a smile on her face. She was the backbone of the Desai family, and she helped everyone who knew her in some way. Masi's hobbies included sharing her wisdom, recounting her days in India through storytelling, indulging in prayer, and enjoying her favorite TV shows. Her presence was a blessing that will be dearly missed.
Masi was greatly loved by her children (the late Mahesh & Sarla Desai, Kailas & the late Mahesh Desai, the late Upendra & Maya Desai, Rekha & Harshad Desai, Geeta & Mahesh Desai, Lina & Asvin Desai, and Gaurang & Manisha Desai); grandchildren (Anup & Manali Desai, Nisha & Vijay Raghavan, Neil Desai, Resha Desai, the late Miraj Desai & Reena Rungoo, Ravi Desai, Natasha Desai & Christopher Spagnoli, and Rohan Desai & Freya Gandhi); great-grandchildren (Avni Desai, Aashi Desai, Kieran Raghavan, Dylan Raghavan, Lily Raghavan, and Indrazaal Desai-Rungoo), and extended family who will forever hold Masi in their hearts.
A memorial will be held on Saturday, March 8th, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Shook Funeral Home to honor Masi's life and offer prayers for her peaceful transition. Cremation to follow at 11:30 AM at East Ridgelawn Cemetery. We invite family and friends to join us in remembering Masi and celebrating the beautiful life she lived.
