With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, Nieve María De La Cruz, who peacefully departed this world in her sleep on March 16, 2025, at approximately 3:30 am, at the age of 72. She was born on February 10, 1953, to Ana Benera Comprés and Juan De La Cruz in the Dominican Republic, where she cultivated a life of love, faith, and unwavering devotion to her family.

Nieve was the heart and soul of our family—a pillar of strength who kept us united through every joy and hardship. Her love was boundless, her wisdom profound, and her faith unshakable. She was a God-fearing woman who walked a path of resilience and grace, always striving to deepen her connection with the Lord. Her morals and values are forever ingrained in those who were blessed to call her family.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, cherished by her husband, Rafael Peña, her two children, Dany Peña and Carlos Peña, her three granddaughters, Delany Rosa, Hadie Rosa, and Adriana Peña, and her three great-grandchildren, Elanye Otero, Abel Vigoya, and Matthias Vigoya. She is also survived by her beloved sisters, who will continue to carry her memory in their hearts. Nieve bravely migrated to the United States three months before her husband, sacrificing for the dream of a better future. Together, they built a foundation that allowed their family to thrive, instilling the values of hard work, resilience, and faith.

There was no family event, no graduation, no milestone that went unnoticed by Nieve. She was always present, always supporting, always loving. She was our confidante, our greatest cheerleader, and the glue that bound us all together. She had a way of making every person feel valued, seen, and loved—whether it was through her warm embrace, her wise counsel, or the countless home remedies she so generously shared to keep her loved ones healthy.

Many of us will fondly remember how she would lovingly sing "Pío Pío, dicen los pollitos, cuando tienen hambre, cuando tienen frío" to us as children, a cherished memory that will forever warm our hearts.

She was known for her elegance and style, always dressed with grace, her favorite color white reflecting the purity of her heart. She had an eye for home décor and was the go-to person for fashion advice, always ensuring those around her felt and looked their best. She adored the warmth of spring and summer, seasons where she could revel in the joy of music, homemade food, and the laughter of family gathered under the sun.

Her unwavering faith led her to speak about God's love to anyone who would listen. She found beauty in spreading kindness, in sharing her wisdom, and in embracing life with an open heart. Though she has left this world, her love, strength, and elegance will forever remain in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her.

Rest in eternal peace, our dearest Nieve. Your spirit will continue to guide us, your love will continue to surround us, and your legacy will live on through the generations you nurtured with your whole heart.

Con profunda tristeza, anunciamos el fallecimiento de nuestra amada matriarca, Nieve María De La Cruz, quien partió pacíficamente de este mundo mientras dormía el 16 de marzo de 2025, aproximadamente a las 3:30 de la madrugada, a la edad de 72 años. Nació el 10 de febrero de 1953, hija de Ana Benera Comprés y Juan De La Cruz en la República Dominicana, donde cultivó una vida de amor, fe y devoción inquebrantable hacia su familia.

Nieve era el corazón y alma de nuestra familia—un pilar de fortaleza que nos mantuvo unidos a través de cada alegría y dificultad. Su amor era ilimitado, su sabiduría profunda y su fe inquebrantable. Fue una mujer temerosa de Dios que caminó un sendero de resiliencia y gracia, siempre esforzándose por profundizar su conexión con el Señor. Sus valores morales están grabados para siempre en aquellos que tuvieron la bendición de llamarla familia.

Deja un legado de amor y devoción, querida por su esposo, Rafael Peña, sus dos hijos, Dany Peña y Carlos Peña, sus tres nietas, Delany Rosa, Hadie Rosa y Adriana Peña, y sus tres bisnietos, Elanye Otero, Abel Vigoya y Matthias Vigoya. También le sobreviven sus queridas hermanas, quienes continuarán llevando su memoria en sus corazones. Nieve emigró valientemente a los Estados Unidos tres meses antes que su esposo, sacrificándose por el sueño de un futuro mejor. Juntos, construyeron una base que permitió a su familia prosperar, inculcando los valores de trabajo duro, resiliencia y fe.

No hubo evento familiar, graduación o momento importante que pasara desapercibido para Nieve. Siempre estaba presente, siempre apoyando, siempre amando. Era nuestra confidente, nuestra mayor animadora y el pegamento que nos mantenía unidos. Tenía una manera de hacer que cada persona se sintiera valorada, vista y amada—ya fuera a través de su cálido abrazo, su sabio consejo o los innumerables remedios caseros que compartía tan generosamente para mantener a sus seres queridos saludables.

Muchos de nosotros recordaremos con cariño cómo nos cantaba amorosamente "Pío Pío, dicen los pollitos, cuando tienen hambre, cuando tienen frío" cuando éramos niños, un recuerdo entrañable que calentará nuestros corazones para siempre.

Era conocida por su elegancia y estilo, siempre vestida con gracia, su color favorito, el blanco, reflejando la pureza de su corazón. Tenía buen ojo para la decoración del hogar y era la persona a quien acudir para consejos de moda, siempre asegurándose de que quienes la rodeaban se sintieran y se vieran lo mejor posible. Adoraba la calidez de la primavera y el verano, estaciones donde podía deleitarse con la alegría de la música, la comida casera y la risa de la familia reunida bajo el sol.

Su fe inquebrantable la llevó a hablar del amor de Dios a cualquiera que quisiera escuchar. Encontraba belleza en difundir bondad, en compartir su sabiduría y en abrazar la vida con el corazón abierto. Aunque ha dejado este mundo, su amor, fortaleza y elegancia permanecerán para siempre en los corazones de aquellos que tuvieron la fortuna de conocerla.

Descansa en paz eterna, nuestra querida Nieve. Tu espíritu continuará guiándonos, tu amor seguirá rodeándonos, y tu legado vivirá a través de las generaciones que nutriste con todo tu corazón.

Velorio el viernes 21 de marzo, de 9:30 a 11:30 AM, en la Funeraria Shook, ubicada en 639 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. El servicio de oración comenzará a las 11:30 AM. Entierro, Cementerio Laurel Grove, Totowa.
