"Monty" Edmund M. Syrek, 85, of Clifton, passed away on January 25, 2013. Born in Passaic, he lived there and in Wallington before moving to Clifton in 1963. A parishioner of St. Philip the Apostle RC Church, Clifton, Monty was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus K of C Council #3644, Wallington, and Pavlick-Koster VFW Post #2640, Wallington. An Army Veteran of WW II, Monty was a Mechanic for Lexington Chevrolet in Clifton for over 40 years, retiring in 1985. Beloved husband for 52 years of the late Genevieve (Wrobel) who passed away in 2011. Devoted father of Michelle Polkowski and her husband Edward of Rydal, PA, Richard and his wife Sue of Redwood, NY, and Judith DiFonzo and her husband Stephen of W. Goshen, PA. Dear brother of Eugene of Clifton, and Helen Kaiser of Clifton. Loving grandfather of 5. Funeral Tuesday 8:45 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, and 10 AM at St. Philip the Apostle RC Church, Clifton. Interment, St. Michael's Cemetery, South Hackensack.
