Modesta Fernandez, 84, of Passaic passed away on August 15, 2021. Born in El Llano, Dominican Republic, on September 6, 1936, she came to the US in 1966 and first settled in Brooklyn before moving to Passaic in 1973. Modesta was a seamstress in a factory for many years before retiring.

Beloved wife of the late Porfirio Fernandez who passed away in March of 2009. Devoted mother of Porfirio "Israel" Fernandez of Passaic. Cherished grandmother of Jessica M. Fernandez and Stacy J. Fernandez, both of Wallington. Loved daughter of the late Manuel Dumé and Ruperta Peña. Dear sister of Miguel Angel Dumé Peña, Rafael Dumé Peña, Manuelito Dumé Peña, Santa Nidia Dumé Peña, Sonia Altagracia Dumé Peña, and the late Santa Gloria Dumé Peña, Carlos M. Dumé Peña, Bienvenido Dumé Peña, Danilda Dumé Peña, Mirtha Dumé Peña and Fancia Dumé Peña.
