Obituary

Michael Petricko, 77, of Wallington, passed away on August 26, 2011. Born on June 26, 1934 in Kapisova, Czechoslovakia, to the late Michael and Helen Petricko, he came to the US in 1935 and lived in Passaic before moving to Wallington in 1961. Mike attended Passaic Schools and graduated from Passaic High School in 1952. He enlisted in the Navy in 1953 and served as a Sonarman 1st Class aboard two Destroyers, The USS Rich DDE 820 and The USSPrice DER 332, during the Korean War, and was a member and Past Commander of the Wallington American Legion Memorial Post 381. After being Honorably Discharged in April 1957, he becamed engaged to Adele Sluda, who he had known since the 7th Grade at Woodrow Wilson Junior High School in Passaic, they were married in April 1958. Upon his discharge, he attended Newark College of Engineering, now NJIT, and received an Electronics Technician Associate Degree. He was employed at Royal McBee Corp. and then Star Parts in South Hackensack as an Electronics Technician. The position required extensive travel throughout the US, Europe and Australia. He joined American Revolving Door as a Salesman in 1972 and in 1976 formed a Partnership with Richard Bentzen and started MIRIC Industries, Inc.. Mike became sole owner of MIRIC in 1984, when Rich passed away. Although active in the business until his death, Mike's son Michael has been running the business since the late 90's. A parishioner of St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Cathedral, Passaic, Mike was a member of the Wallington Knights of Columbus Council # 3644. Beloved husband for 53 years of Adele (Sluda). Devoted father of Michael and his wife Nancy, Lauren Conca and her husband Vincent and Suzanne Fossett. Loving grandfather of Michael, Stephanie, Vinnie, Nicholas and JulieAnne. Dear brother of Anna Sidor and her husband Eugene and John Petricko. Funeral Wednesday 8:45 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, and 10 AM at St. Michael's Cathedral. Interment, St. Michael's Cemetery, South Hackensack. Visiting Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM with Parastas at 2:30 PM.
