Michael F. Parsons, 80, of Passaic passed away on August 3, 2014. Born in Passaic, he was a lifelong resident. A US Army Veteran during the Korean War, Michael was a member of the US Army Reserves and was activated for Operation Desert Storm, serving 3 months at Ft. Dix training soldiers for active duty in the Gulf. Michael was a member of American Legion Post, #170, Rochelle Park, where he was the Service Officer. Michael started working in 1952 for Arrow Woven Label Co., Paterson, later becoming a Jacquard Weaver. Active with Local #2569, Michael was Recording Secretary in 1963 and later served as President for several years. Michael was appointed to the United Textile Workers of America Staff as a Representative in 1978 and became Area Director for the NJ and NY area in 1985. Michael was a Trustee of Botto House Labor Museum, served as President and Vice-President of the Passaic Democratic Club, and was President of the Passaic County AFL-CIO Labor Council. Michael attended Bloomfield College majoring in Business Administration and was appointed by Governor Kean to serve on a Commission for Vocational Education as well as served as a commission member for the NJ State Department of Labor for Migrate Farm Labor. Beloved husband for 59 years of Ellnora (Shuckhart). Devoted father of Michael and his wife Deborah of Lodi, David and his wife Carol of Wayne, Debbie Molnar and her husband Ken of Passaic, and Robert T. and his wife Alicia of Clifton. Loving grandfather of Stefanie, Michael, Laura, David, Christopher, Anthony, Tiara, Preston, Brianna, Jordan and 5 great grandchildren. Dear brother of John of California, Margaret Saile of Garfield and the late Ernest. Funeral Friday 10 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. Interment, East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton. Visiting Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the funeral home.
