Michael A. Lasek, 92, of Clifton, passed away on June 6, 2015. Born in Gniewczyna, Poland, he came to the US in 1951 and lived in New York City before moving to Clifton in 1958. A member of St. John Kanty RC Church, Clifton, Michael was a Machinist for Leslie Co. in Parsippany for over 25 years, and later Kulite Co. in E. Rutherford, before retiring. A Polish Army Veteran during WW II, Michael participated and was wounded in the Battle at Driel, Holland, during September, 1944 as part of Operation Market Garden. A member of the Polish Army Veterans Association of America, Post #36, Passaic and Clifton, Michael was awarded the Medal of Outstanding Citizen in 2009 by the Italian-American World War Association. In 2005, Michael was the Marshal of the Passaic, Clifton, and Vicinity Contingent of the 68th General K. Pulaski Memorial Parade on 5th Ave., in New York City. A former member of Holy Rosary RC Church, Passaic, Michael was an avid gardener and reader. Beloved husband for 61 years, of the late Maria (Grycuk), who passed away in 2011. Devoted father of George and his wife Lynn, Kazio and his wife Faye, and Dorothy and her husband Richard. Loving grandfather of Michael, Evan, and Peter and his fiancé Jasmine. Dear brother of Aniella and Stacia. Visiting Wednesday 5-8 PM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, with a prayer service at 7 PM. A private cremation will take place on Thursday. Family and friends will gather on Friday 8 AM at the funeral home for a procession to the Chapel at Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery, Doylestown, PA. for an 11 AM Memorial Mass.
