Michael Grib, 84, of Clifton, died on October 6, 2009. Mickey, as he was known to family and friends, served as an Army Staff Sergeant in the European Theatre during World War II and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He retired from Western Electric Co. in Kearny in 1985 after 39 years of service. Mickey was a member of the Athenia Veterans Post in Clifton and The Telephone Pioneers of America, and actively participated in annual reunions of the 63rd Infantry Division of the U.S. Army. He was an avid sports fan, loved the Jersey Shore, and enjoyed dancing to Big Band Music. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his four grandchildren. Mickey is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Olga, of Clifton; daughters Karen Johnson and her husband Gregory of Wayne, Kathleen Novak and her husband Daniel of Middletown, CT, and Kristine Sudol and her husband John of Yardley, PA; four grandchildren: Christopher and Melissa Johnson of Wayne, and Jeremy and Corey Novak of Middletown, CT. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Anna Grib, and his brother, William, and his sister-in-law Betty. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name to the Athenia Veterans Post, 147 Huron Ave., Clifton, NJ 07013 would be appreciated. Funeral Friday 9:15 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, and 10:30 AM at St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Chapel, Woodland Park. Interment, East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton.
