Michael Joseph Gegats, Sr., 85, of Passaic, passed away on December 17, 2020.  Born in Throop , PA , he settled in Passaic in 1959.

Beloved husband for 59 years of the late Pearl (Rovinski) Gergats who passed away in 2019. Devoted father of Judith Gergats of Passaic, Michael Gergats, Jr., and his wife Judy of Clifton and Richard Gergats and his wife Krystyna of Clifton.  Cherished Pop Pop of Rachel and Natalia. Dear brother of Patricia Armburst and brother in law of Christopher Feola.Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Mary (Lannon) Gergats, brothers, Walter and John  and sister Maryann.

Michael was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a Passaic Police Officer for 32 years retiring as Detective Sergeant.  Michael was a member of the Passaic PBA Local 14, he was the Past President of the Pulaski Association of Passaic Police and Fire Departments, a member of the Police Officers Honor Legion, Athenia Veterans Post and VFW Post 7165 both of Clifton and a Parishioner of Saint John Kanty Church.

Michael had a jovial personality and always enjoyed telling jokes, playing cards (crazy eights) and spending time with his granddaughters. He was an avid golfer who achieved a golfer's dream; a hole in one on one of his many golf trips with friends.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Michael will be laid to rest with his wife at a private service in East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton.
