Michael Otis Elam, "Bilal" 59, of Newark, was born on February 17, 1963 to Frank and Della Mae Elam in Lincolnton, GA. He departed this life on Tuesday, March 15, 2022.

Bilal has been a resident of Newark for several years, and worked for the Newark Department of Sanitation, for many years.

Michael is preceded in death by his loving parents Frank and Dela Elam. His 2 sisters, Belvin Perez-West(deceased), Gloria Elam(deceased), and 1 brother, Franklin Roger Elam(deceased). He leaves behind his nephew, Ernesto Perez, cousins Mamie, Frank and other cousins from Georgia. Michael's legacy and memory will live on through his nephew Lieutenant Colonel Ernesto Perez, his wife, Maria Carmelita Perez, and their children. His niece, Deanna Cherelle Weathers-Perez, and his 3 nephews, Virgilio Ernesto Perez, Salvador Emmanuel Perez, and Alejandro Elijah Perez.
