Obituary

Michael DiGiovanni, 90, loving father and husband, of Passaic passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 22, 2013. Born in Passaic, Michael was a lifelong resident and was a long-time parishioner of St. John Kanty Church in Clifton, as well as a past parishioner of St. Anthony's Church and St. Nicholas' Church, both in Passaic. As a teenager he served in the US CCC (Civil Conservation Corps) in Idaho and Washington. Michael enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard immediately after December 7, 1941, and was a Radio Operator from 1941-1945, participating in the D-Day landing at Normandy. Michael worked for ITT from 1951 to 1986, when he retired. For more than 20 years, he was a project manager for ITT and traveled internationally and domestically. He finished his career at ITT as the head of the Technical Writing Department in Nutley. A member of the Fr. Juan Perez Knights of Columbus Council # 262, Michael was also a past member of the ITT 20th Century Club. Beloved husband for 65 years of the late Rosalie (Cencimino) who passed away in 2009. Devoted father of Anthony DiGiovanni of Passaic and Christine Lee DiGiovanni of Los Angeles, CA. Loving brother of Jenny DiDomenico of North Haledon and Stella Niemiec of Paterson. Dear brother-in-law of Caroline Scudillo of Garfield, Josephine DiGiovanni of Clifton, and Joan Fimball DiGiovanni of Tuscon, AZ. Cherished uncle of many nieces and nephews. Visiting Tuesday morning, 9:00-9:30 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, followed by a 10 AM Mass at St. John Kanty RC Church, Clifton. Interment, East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton.
