Marva E. Banfield aged 71 years, passed away on January 30, 2025. She was the daughter of Narcis and Catherine Hospedales (deceased) and was a beloved mother, wife, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Marva was born in Trinidad and Tobago where she spent her formative years. She migrated to the USA in November 1981 and lived in Montclair for 25 years, before moving to Clifton where she and her family settled 10 years ago.

Marva worked in childcare for many years and as a Pre-K Teacher for the Nursery School at Christ Church, Glen Ridge for 8 years, retiring in 2014. She was a member of the Hackensack Senior Citizens Center and a former parishioner of Holy Name of Jesus RC Church, East Orange. But more than anything, Marva was the beloved wife of Colvin S. Banfield for 49 years. She was a devoted mother of Darelle and Sherwin Banfield. Loving grandmother of Christopher, Michael, Layla and Amina. Cherished great grandmother of Christopher, Jr., "CJ". Dear sister of Lorna and Annette, plus her deceased siblings Sydney, Cynthia and Knolly. Her memory will also be cherished by all who knew her including her in-laws: Sandra Marcano, Carl, Claudia,Ian, Denise, Lennox and Sandra, her god-daughter Akua Degannes, her nieces and nephews: Consuelo, Alicia, Ria, Sonia (deceased), Ian (deceased) Adelina, Carla, Dain, Delano, Simone, Arlene, Carlos, Chelsea, and Sophia.

There will be a viewing on Thursday , February 6th, 2025 (9-10 AM) at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, followed by a 11 AM Mass at Holy Name of Jesus RC Church, 200 Midland Ave., East Orange followed by the cremation at the Rosedale Cemetery 408 Orange Road, Montclair NJ 07042
