Marlene J. Reed (nee Ranger), 90, of Clifton, passed away on December 17, 2022. Born in Newark, she lived in Bloomfield before moving to Clifton.
Marlene was an Executive Secretary until she began her true career as a homemaker for her three children. She was a dedicated mentor, always willing to assist with her children's studies and special assignments, such as learning State Capitals, constructing box reports, practicing Spanish and much more.
Marlene had a deep love and connection to the Jersey shore, and she enjoyed the thrill of playing slots in Atlantic City. She was an accomplished pianist and seamstress. When her children were grown, she resumed work outside of the home at Food Enterprises in Fairfield for many
years. Marlene enjoyed bowling, she loved to read and do crossword puzzles, and was an avid Miami Dolphins Fan.
Beloved wife of the late Charles Reed who passed away in 2003. Devoted mother of Carolyn Liberti and her husband Dante of Clifton, Linda Mott and her husband Donald of Kailua Kona, Hawaii, and Douglas Reed and his wife Claudia of Nesconset, NY. Loving grandmother of Laura and her husband Andrew, Dania and her husband Mark, Carolyn and her husband Euclides, Jenna and her fiance Jay, Susan and her husband Marquise, Alexander, Alexa, Laura and Jimmy. Cherished great grandmother of Madeleine, Isabelle, Vanessa, Hannah, Evan, Aniyah, Taylor, Jonathan, Korra and Kennedy. Sister of Whitney Ranger and his wife Maryann of Gillette.
Graveside services Wednesday 11 AM at Mt. Hebron Cemetery, 851 Valley Rd., Upper Montclair. A "Celebration of Life" for family and friends will be held in the afternoon of January 28, 2023 for all friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, donations made to either the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, www.Komen.org or the American Diabetes Association, www.Diabetes.org in memory of Marlene, would be greatly appreciated.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Shook Funeral Home, Clifton.
