Marie M. (Martino) Metta, 99, formerly of Clifton passed away on March 16, 2020. Born in Campobasso, Italy, Marie came to the US in 1923 and first settled in Newark before moving to Belleville and Clifton, and most recently Holiday City. Marie worked as a Word Processor for Montclair State University for 10 years before retiring. During WWII Marie also worked in the Navy Department in Washington, DC.

As a resident of Holiday City, Marie was very active in the community. She would organize various clubs and trips for seniors, was the President of the Italian/American Club and Singles Club, and was a member of their Tap Dancing Group who would put on various performances.

Beloved wife of the late John who passed away in 1971. Devoted mother of Linda of Belmar, Mark and his wife Sue of Wilson, NC, and the late John Metta who passed away in 2006. Dear mother-in-law of Fran Metta of Union. Cherished grandmother of John, Gina, Mark, Jr., and Zachary and great-grandmother of Juliette.

Funeral Thursday 11AM at St. Andrew the Apostle RC Church, 400 Mt. Prospect Ave., Clifton. Interment, Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Clifton. Arrangement under the direction of Shook Funeral Home, Clifton.
