In loving memory of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Maria L. Cosme (Mary), who departed this world and entered into eternity with our Lord on June 19, 2024. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.

Mary was born on September 10, 1944, in Palmarejo, Corozal, Puerto Rico. She was a devoted wife to her husband of 57 years, David Cosme, and a loving mother to her children, Marilyn Cosme Bright, Mayra Maldonado, and David Cosme Jr. She was a doting grandmother to her grandchildren, known to her as "her crowns": Kelsie Maldonado, Nathanael Maldonado, Zachary Bright, and David Cosme III.

Mary was known for her unwavering faith and dedication to her work with the church. She will be remembered as a mentor, teacher, and counselor to many. She was infamous for her ability to cook a 6-pot meal on a 4-pot stove. Her family was her greatest joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Mary, together with her husband, raised a family of educators and faithful followers of Christ. She enjoyed taking trips to see family, to spend time with friends, and to see the other side of the world.

Mary will be forever remembered for her uncompromising faith, her strength in challenging times, and her enthusiasm to preach the Word at a moment's notice. Her memory will continue to live on through her husband, children, grandchildren, and her church family at Centro Cristiano Calvario in Newark, New Jersey

A celebration of Mary's life will be held on June 24th at 11:00 AM at Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton, New Jersey. The interment will follow at 2:30 PM at East Ridgelawn Cemetery at 255 Main Avenue, Clifton, New Jersey. All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend.
