Obituary

Margarita Vargas, 81 of Clifton, NJ, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2024, surrounded by her family. Born in Ciales, Puerto Rico, she came to Passaic in 1960 and lived there before moving to Clifton in 1997. Margarita worked as a Paraprofessional for the Passaic Board of Education for 27 years, retiring in 2006. She was a former parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima RC Church, Passaic, where she was a CCD teacher for many years.

Margarita was a charismatic person, who loved to laugh, sing, and entertain. She was an incredible cook, who enjoyed feeding anyone that stopped by; she was a mother to all. Margarita also loved walking, spending time with family and friends, and taking trips to Atlantic City.

Beloved wife of the late Jose Vargas, who passed away on March 30, 2023. Devoted mother of Arlene Montanez and her husband Alex, and Dilcia White, and her husband Joseph. Loving grandmother of Courtney, Joseph, Nichole, and Alex. Cherished great grandmother of Gianna Palma. Dear sister of Carmen Margarita Pagan and Olga Milagros Pagan. Margarita was predeceased by her loving parents, Margot Medina and Felix Pagan, and her brothers, Angel and Felix Pagan.

Visitation is Tuesday, February 6, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave, Clifton. Mass at St. Brendan's Church, Clifton, at 10:30 a.m. Interment at East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton.
