Luis Alvarez, 95, passed away on November 12, 2024. Born in Havana, Cuba, He traveled to the US in 1971 and lived in Washington Heights, NY, for many years before settling in Elmwood Park. In Cuba Luis worked at Le Trianon Jewelry, Havana, Cuba, before coming to the US where he was later one of the owners and operators of Iza Trimmings, New York, for many years before retiring.

Beloved husband for 69 years of Teresa (Lamas) Alvarez. Devoted father of Teresa Robledo and her husband DVM Arturo Robledo and Luis Alvarez and his wife Cristina Alvarez. Loving grandfather of Arianna Bastidas and her husband Mark Bastidas, Alexandra Zaloum and her husband Adam Zaloum, Danielle Fuentes and her husband Lorenzo Perez, John Michael Robledo and Charles Anthony Robledo. Cherished great-grandfather of Olivia and Charlotte Bastidas and Larissa and Leah Fuentes-Perez. Dear brother of Maria Luisa Alvarez.

Visiting Thursday 5 – 9 PM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. Funeral Friday 9:45 AM at the funeral home and 11 AM at Our Lady of Fatima RC Church, Passaic. Entombment, Garden of Memories, Township of Washington.
